Liza currently works and lives in Crowborough, East Sussex near the beautiful Ashdown Forest. Studying a Foundation Diploma at University College Falmouth, Liza was exposed to the artistic cultures in Cornwall. At this point Liza decided to specialise in Fine Art, particularly painting and drawing. Consequentially embarking upon a BA in Fine Art Painting at Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London, graduating in 2015.
Liza creates calming abstract paintings inspired by the ever- changing British landscape. Built up through thoughtful layers of paint the works are visual poems, memories of the landscapes that inform them. Changes in the seasons and weather are suggested to the viewer through the use of colour and mark making. The paintings transport you to the hinted places that inspired them.
“This work reflects a depth and sensitivity to the landscape and stimulating seasonal changes. A real joy to view and engage with.”
The following is how Liza expresses her feeling’s for her work:
“I paint as a way to express my own personal experience of the landscapes I encounter. My paintings take place intuitively, I allow each mark to inform the next and for the painting to unfold in an organic way, much like the landscape they refer to. I hope my paintings can take the viewer on a visual journey and to evoke their own personal memories and experiences through the expression of my own”.
